Wordless Wednesday - Fall Fun!

This morning, I'm linking up with Miss DeCarbo at Sugar and Spice for one of my favorite linky parties --- Wordless Wednesday! AND...it is officially FALL! Not so much here in Ft. Lauderdale, but I can dream!
In first grade, we went crazy for pumpkins. Here you can see our "Harvesting New Skills" bulletin board. I'm so sad I couldn't find a full length picture with clear writing, but this will do. Each pumpkin is a graphic organizer that focused on 1 of 4 skills: Story Elements, BME, Author's Purpose, or Main Idea. The pictures show us enjoying Pumpkin Day! This is my all-time favorite unit to do in the fall.
Today's Question: What is your favorite fall activity, craftivity, or unit?

Be sure to link back up with Christina to enjoy other pictures!

  2. Great display! The vines are perfect. I love all things pumpkin. I start the year teaching about trees and forests, and we always head outside to measure trunk circumference, etc. My colleague and I also have the students research turkeys. Then we write expository pieces. We do our final copies on turkey-shaped stationary.

  3. Your bulletin board looks great!!! We do an activity with The Seasons of Arnold's Apple Tree where the kids paint 4 trees to look like the tree in each season. Another one of my favorites is we use orange plates and have the kids use foam shapes to make a jack-o-lantern face and then add a brown stem. Then we have them graph the shapes they used to make their jack-o-lantern face. Always turns out so cute!!!

    1. Thank you! I love that idea. Adding the graphing is such a powerful math connection!
